County sets Feb. 3 public hearing on state-aid fund transfer for highway projects

County engineering staff described a proposed transfer of funds from the county's municipal state aid construction account to the county's regular state aid construction account, noting the municipal account is restricted to use in cities under 5,000 population while the regular account can be used inside or outside those cities. "The suggested date of a public hearing would be the 1st meeting in February, on February 3," the county engineer said; commissioners moved to set the public hearing for Feb. 3 at 9:15 a.m. and approved the date by voice vote.

The engineer said the county has transferred such funds before and typically coordinates with affected cities; he noted there had not been prior written objections from cities when transfers occurred. The public hearing will give cities and residents an opportunity to comment before any fund reallocation is authorized.
