Committee members recommended a mix of policy and program actions to reduce wildfire risk and better manage open space. Proposed steps included establishing or supporting Fire Safe Councils, neighbor‑to‑neighbor right‑of‑entry programs to allow fuel‑reduction work on absentee properties, and coordinated thinning/removal of hazard trees. Members suggested the county partner with UC Master Gardeners and tribal practitioners to develop guidance on recommended trees and native plantings.
