A guest at the March 24 meeting asked the board about insurance requirements for the Hammel House project. David Nation, a board member, explained that the Historic Preservation Board does not have authority to require insurance for the property, but that a proposed vacancy ordinance currently under consideration by Council would, if adopted, require insurance coverage for vacant properties such as the Hammel House.
