Kenny Cook summarized three options staff developed to address whether kitchens and bathrooms should be allowed in accessory structures after a recent Board of Zoning Appeals decision. The options were: (1) adopt administrative guidelines describing how staff will treat such features, (2) update definitions and zoning text to clarify that kitchens are allowed and add criteria, or (3) amend the permitting article in the zoning code to set explicit standards — Cook said staff preferred option 3. "The 3rd option is sort of what I was recommending ... amending, sort of our article for permits in our zoning regulations to try to define that issue a little bit more about what we allow," he said.
