Smithville approves first-reading rezoning for Central Power 'Rocketship' project
On first reading the Board approved rezoning roughly 155 acres to B-3 and a preliminary plat to create three lots for Central Power’s Project “Rocketship,” a proposed community-scale manufacturing site the developer says will bring significant local investment and jobs.

Patricia Johnson, an attorney with the Ross Wright law firm, presented Central Power’s Project “Rocketship,” asking the Board to approve Bill 3119-67 on first reading to rezone about 155 acres to B-3, approve a preliminary plat creating three lots, and adopt a conceptual plan for phase one manufacturing buildings. "With that, we would ask that you pass the bill on 1st reading," Johnson said during the presentation.
