The Arlington Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 7–0 on Jan. 20, 2026, to approve a resolution authorizing the permanent closure of Blanton Elementary effective at the end of the 2025–26 school year. President Justin Chapa moved to approve the resolution; Vice‑President Sarah McMurrough seconded the motion. Voting For: 7; Voting Against: 0.
