District technology director: only Google Gemini will be permitted on school devices
Cascade SD 5's technology director said a district committee recommended allowing only Google Gemini on school devices and described summer projects and a required phone-system replacement by 2028.

Director of Technology Mr. Coon briefed the board Feb. 9 on departmental plans for summer projects, a forthcoming phone-system replacement required by 2028, and district work on artificial intelligence use. Responding to a trustee question about AI, Coon said a district-wide committee developed "a plan and framework to allow only Google Gemini on school devices." Administrators and some teachers reported using AI tools to reduce time spent on lesson planning and grading.
