District maintenance staff told the board that a library expansion at Gainesville Junior High sits at a higher elevation than the existing roofline, causing water to pond at the addition. To mitigate the issue, administrators described installing a wedge-shaped roof structure (a "cricket") and performing a partial roof replacement covering roughly 34,000 square feet — work already included within Phase 2 scope.
