Construction on new Highland Rim school on schedule for August, county told

Dr. Bill Heath gave commissioners an update on the new Highland Rim school facility, saying major systems and finishing work are underway and that the project is on schedule for an August opening. "Power is on in the entire building," Heath said, listing roofing completion, generator installation, floor tile and cabinet work, and concrete set for parking-lot light foundations.

Heath told the board there should be sufficient funds from bond proceeds and the county fund balance to complete the renovation of the old building, and he said bids will be structured to allow scaling if cost estimates exceed target budgets. The mayor and commissioners thanked Heath for the report and welcomed Jacob (a newly introduced school leader) to Lincoln County; Jacob said he had been working with staff on the budget and was "excited to be here," noting his connection to the community.

The update did not include a final contract or timeline for the old-building renovation beyond the statement that bids will be issued soon. Commissioners did not take a formal vote on construction contracts at the meeting; they recorded progress and asked staff to return with bid and budget details when available.
