Aug 3, 2026

The full story

FDOT central office is leading a feasibility study—required by the General Appropriations Act (HB 5001)—that will examine whether consolidating the Charlotte, Lee and Collier MPOs would yield benefits, costs, and process changes. Staff told the MPO board Aug. 3 that the study will consider two alternatives (consolidate or not), examine governance and funding, and produce draft findings at a special meeting on Nov. 16 with a final report expected by Dec. 7 and submission to the legislature by Dec. 31.
