Trustees propose limits, notification rules for RVs and specialized vehicles

Trustees Honegger and Van Zeyl presented proposed language for restricting occupancy of specialized vehicles (RVs) on residential lots. Trustee Honegger introduced the first paragraph: "Specialized Vehicles shall not be occupied or used for living, sleeping or housekeeping purposes on any zoning lot in any zoning district except for the occasional overnight sleeping by residents of the zoning lot or their guests provided that such overnight sleeping does not violate any other ordinance of the Village of Third Lake and does not exceed fourteen (14) days in a calendar year." Trustee Van Zeyl offered the companion notification paragraph: "Residents of a zoning lot must notify the Village of their intent to house a guest or guests in a Specialized Vehicle on their lot not less than seventy-two (72) hours prior to the arrival of the guest or guests on their lot. Resident notification to the Village shall include, at minimum, the following: Name and address of the hosting resident, their phone number and email address, names of all guests staying with the resident, their planned length of stay (start and end dates) and the make, model, and license plate of the Specialized Vehicle."

Trustee Novak cautioned that asking for guest names could be overreaching and suggested consulting the village attorney. The trustees agreed that the matter would proceed through the normal ordinance process, including any required public hearing.
