Board OKs speech pathologist, coach hires and accepts three resignations
The Pine River-Backus board approved the hiring of Cayla Loy (Speech Language Pathologist) and Nicholas Ackerman (varsity girls basketball coach) and accepted resignations from Cade Morse (PE teacher), Daniel Miller (bus driver), and Sadie Jordan (elementary teacher). Each motion was unanimous.

At the May 18 special meeting, the board approved multiple personnel actions across instructional, athletic and transportation roles. The board hired Cayla Loy as a Speech Language Pathologist effective with the 2026–27 school year (motion by Roger D. Hoplin, second by Carrie Maurer-Ackerman) and approved Nicholas Ackerman as varsity girls basketball coach for the 2026–27 season (motion by David Sheley, second by Nicki Linsten-Lodge). Both motions passed unanimously.
