Operations report: pizza kitchen permit, pool corrections, attempted arson and a five‑acre fire noted

Management presented updates across operations and capital projects at the July 7 meeting, including food-and-beverage permitting, pool inspection corrections, wildland/structure-fire incidents, and roadwork.

The Madera County Fire Marshal performed an inspection of the Pizza Kitchen and issued a fire permit; staff noted a few minor corrections (cleaning screens, counters and floors) must be completed before pizza sales begin. The snack-shack environmental/health permit remains in process. Pool inspection findings included minor corrections—signage refresh, replacement of flow meters, correcting hot-tub chemical balance and surface patching in the hot tub and kid pool—most items have been addressed aside from the remaining surface patches.

Staff reported an attempted arson late in June that affected sinks and urinals in the men’s restroom and prompted a temporary pool closure for inspection; members were urged to report information to the Sheriff and the Association. Additionally, two fires occurred near the community: one off Long Hollow that was contained and a second that burned roughly five acres in the greenbelt between Revis and North Dome; crews credited prior road clearance with enabling quicker access for emergency responders.

Operational updates also covered bridge-walkway repair, 4 tons of asphalt laid for road patching, and review of goat-grazing contracts (a quoted cost of about $80,000) which directors deemed not viable for the areas proposed. Management said alternative weed-abatement approaches and tractor attachments are under consideration.
