Canaan selectmen accept multiple resignations and appoint Aquarion representative

The Town of Canaan Board of Selectmen on Aug. 10 accepted several personnel changes and made an appointment to an outside authority.

Selectmen voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Tracy Wilson as Town Cemetery Sexton. The minutes record the motion "Motion to accept Tracy Wilson’s resignation with regrets: Kinsella; seconded Jacobs; unanimous." The board also accepted Tom Wilson’s resignations from the Board of Finance and as Constable with unanimous votes, recorded as motions moved and seconded by the selectmen.

Separately, Republican Registrar of Voters Susan Kelsey asked to rescind her earlier resignation and continue serving through November; the board accepted that request unanimously. And the board appointed First Selectman David Barger as the town representative to the Aquarion Water Authority. The appointment motion was recorded "Motion to appoint Dave Barger as Town Representative: Kinsella; seconded Jacobs." The vote was recorded as two yeas and one abstention, with Barger abstaining from the appointment vote.

The board recorded the accepted resignations as "with regrets" and noted follow-up actions for filling vacancies; effective dates for the appointments and resignations were included in meeting attachments.
