The proposed amendments would add a new Section 18.35.070 to allow accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in R‑1 residential zones and change Section 18.35.050E to increase maximum lot coverage in R‑1 from 30% to 40%. The hearing officer explained ADUs must be self‑contained units on the same parcel as the principal dwelling with their own sleeping, sanitation and kitchen facilities.
