Committee reconsiders SB 1978; recommends CSSB 1978 pass after 7-4 roll call
The Senate Committee on Business & Commerce reconsidered prior action on SB 1978 and, after a motion by Senator Lois Kolkhorst, voted 7–4 to report CSSB 1978 to the Senate with a recommendation that it pass and be printed.

The Senate Committee on Business & Commerce reconsidered earlier action on SB 1978 during its May 15, 2025 hearing. Senator Charles Schwertner, chair of the committee, moved to reconsider the previous vote; Senator Lois Kolkhorst then moved that "SB 1978 do not pass but that CSSB 1978 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed." The committee recorded the motion and the roll call result was 7 ayes and 4 nays.
