During budget review, county staff recommended against funding an architecture-design contract of a little over $1,000,000 for a proposed crime lab because no capital-project dollars currently exist to build the facility. “There’s no reason to spend 1000000 dollars to build a new crime lab facility if we don't have any money in our capital projects to build it,” the presenter said, and suggested studying space alternatives and coordinating with state court plans before moving to full design.
