District says principals will help design study on proficiency-based learning

Dr. Mitch Nerdin said Granite has met with high school principals and will develop a study to collect input from parents, teachers and students to guide consistent proficiency-based practices across grading, retakes and college-readiness expectations.

Dr. Mitch Nerdin, Granite’s chief of staff, told the District Community Council that the district has held meetings with high school principals to design a parent‑teacher‑student study on proficiency‑based learning (PBL). "We have had several meetings with high school principals. We are working together to develop a study for parents, teachers, and students to give feedback to help guide adjustments to our practice," Nerdin said.
