Planners propose three-day default limit for special events; consider code-aligned language

The Planning Commission reviewed a revised Lower Towamensing Special Events Ordinance (Revised Draft 09/03/25) and discussed whether to adopt statutory "General Powers" language from the Second‑Class Township Code.

Consultant Steve Dellinger provided wording from the Second‑Class Township Code and asked if the commission wanted that wording or to keep the existing language. Commissioner Meining recommended rewording to ensure consistency with the code. Chair Angela Farrell questioned whether to remove the word "outdoor" in Section 9i(1). Commissioner Steve Kuhns raised the prospect of limiting the number of days an event may run; Dellinger proposed a default "maximum of three days" with longer durations considered on a case-by-case basis by the Board of Supervisors. The commission continued discussion and did not adopt a final ordinance at the meeting.
