Zoning Board approves expanded private dock at 8411 Sill Shore Rd

The Village of Sodus Point Zoning Board on Nov. 24 approved a special permit for a private dock at 8411 Sill Shore Road, allowing an 8x70 permanent dock with an 8x16 platform that produces a 78-foot dock and 86 feet of total linear dock where 60 feet is allowed without a special permit. Amy Wildhack, the applicant, said the larger permanent dock "is a better opportunity for their family, for their space and their area."

Board members questioned whether the dock would impede neighbors’ access and whether the dock area was shallow; Wildhack said the new structure would not disrupt neighbors and that the area is "pretty shallow." Code Enforcement Officer Kevin Druschel displayed a map of the location and the board noted the proposed dock is similar in size to other docks in the immediate area. Member Sue Bassage moved to approve the case as submitted; Member Dave Marinucci seconded and the motion passed with votes recorded as Tom Johns—aye, Sue Bassage—aye and Dave Marinucci—aye.

The application cited village docking code (CODE 86-11 and 86-23) as the regulatory basis for requiring a special permit when proposed linear docking exceeds the 60-foot allowance. The board did not record any additional conditions on the permit during the meeting, and no public comments were offered during the public-comment period for the item. The permit is effective per standard village procedures unless administrative steps (filing or appeal) alter implementation.
