Board delays administrator recruitment RFP until September

Commissioner William Bunek moved — and the Board approved — postponing the agenda item to issue a request for proposals for county administrator recruitment until the September executive session. Bunek said the Board needed a month to "let things calm down" and to focus on immediate priorities such as contracts, finance staffing needs and the budget. Commissioner Ty Wessell, who originally requested the RFP, agreed the delay was acceptable so the recruitment could proceed in a more orderly way.

Opponents argued that waiting would further delay needed recruitment steps; Commissioner Rick Robbins said postponement would only push the timeline farther out. The motion carried with five votes in favor and two opposed.
