Data conversion error forces Select Board to delay setting tax rate; $250,000 shortfall identified

Town Administrator Nicole MacStay told the Select Board that a data conversion error between the old assessing database and the new Vision system produced incorrect MS-1 reporting for TIF districts, Veterans' Credits and Elderly Exemptions. Tax Collector Beth Marsh identified the source of the errors by reviewing property record cards; MacStay said the errors likely would have produced a significant revenue shortfall if tax bills had been issued as planned.
