Beautification Committee backs plan to replace century-old street trees
The City of El Paso Beautification Committee agreed to begin replacing trees removed in recent years after Director of Public Service Barry Kauther said many of the lost trees were nearly 100 years old.

Barry Kauther, the city's Director of Public Service, opened a discussion urging the committee to begin replanting street trees that have been removed over the past few years. "Many of those trees have been estimated to be close to 100 years old," Kauther said, noting the loss of long-established canopy.
