On May 11, 2026 the Gay Town Council voted unanimously not to sign an updated Interagency Governmental Agreement (IGA) with Meriwether County Animal Services. Council member Estes moved that the town not sign the agreement; Council member Askvig seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
