The county engineer proposed a $150,000 budget line for a five‑year cycle of third‑party culvert inspections by USI to identify large culvert failures and reduce risk after a recent collapse; the proposal will be revisited with contract details.

County Engineer Zach urged the board to add a new line item to pay for periodic third‑party culvert inspections, saying recent storm damage exposed risks in large culverts that can be close in scale to small bridges. “This 150,000 gets, all of our large call for inspected. This is a 5 year annual cycle of USI coming into it as a a certified 3rd party,” he said when introducing the item.
