Building, highway reports note septic program eligibility and equipment planning

During department reports the board heard from Building Inspector Roger Gallant and Highway Superintendent Gerritt Reyn.

Gallant said he has been busy, that septic inspections for the year are complete and that county-found funds for septic improvements/replacements make Huron eligible because of its waterfront properties; he noted a couple of homeowners could benefit from the program. Gallant also said new code-regulation implementation is on hold.

Highway Superintendent Gerritt Reyn reported there was not much change since the prior report; he said he will provide building quotes for facility updates at the December meeting. Supervisor Fantuzzo and Reyn discussed investing in a set of lifts for large trucks (four lifts, battery and hydraulic options) and noted the town had sought grants without success. Parking-lot upgrades may be moved to 2027. The minutes record that a tractor placed on an auction site sold for $5,000.00 less than what the town paid for it.

The board indicated staff will meet to revise plans and return with quotes and more detailed proposals at a later meeting.
