Commission on Aging elects Winnie Rutledge as vice chair

Chair Chuck Kaufman nominated Winnie Rutledge for vice chair of the City of Buda Commission on Aging and the commission approved the nomination by voice vote.

Kaufman introduced the nomination, saying, "She has spent a lot of her adult life in aging services, in Austin at the Texas Department of Aging." He told the commission he had communicated with Rutledge, who he said was willing to serve. After a second and a brief voice vote, Kaufman declared that "Winnie Rutledge has won the election for vice chair." Matthew Wright, the staff liaison, administered meeting formalities and confirmed the vote outcome.

The nomination came under agenda item 5A; Rutledge was not physically present—staff noted she was attending from Portugal—and Kaufman suggested she could bring back observations from her trip. The commission did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript; the chair declared the appointment carried by majority voice vote.

The commission proceeded to other business after the election. The appointment is procedural and will be reflected in the commission roster and future meeting materials.
