County endorses Cameron School Road–G.W. Carver intersection roundabout in TSIP application

County Engineer Darren Moon briefed the Board on the Cameron School Road and George W. Carver Avenue intersection, noting recent annexations and projected growth in the area. The City of Ames proposed a roundabout as the preferred option; Moon described two construction cost options—roundabout estimated at $738,000 and a traffic signal at $125,000—and said he agrees the roundabout is the better option for traffic and safety. Moon told the Board that design cost sharing had been split where the project remains partially in unincorporated Story County and that there is capacity in the county budget to support the recommendation.
