Matamoras council amends snow-removal code to require clearing objects from fire hydrants (Ordinance 2025-003)
In a March 25 hearing, Matamoras Borough Council approved Ordinance No. 2025-003 to amend Chapter 105-13, adding a requirement that owners, tenants or agents remove objects (not limited to snow/ice) blocking fire hydrants within 24 hours of notice from the Code Enforcement Officer or Chief of Police; the motion passed 5–1.

President Jason Ohliger opened Public Hearing #2 at 5:36 p.m. and described proposed changes to Chapter 105-13 of the Matamoras Borough Code concerning snow removal. He said the draft amendment would add language requiring owners, tenants and property agents to remove "any objects (not limited to snow and ice) blocking access to any fire hydrant within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving notice from the Borough Code Enforcement Officer or the Chief of Police."
