Public Works reports vault ready, reservoir telemetry fixed; Spring Avenue sewer needs replacement

Public Works Foreman Andrew Schultheis told council "the interconnect vault is ready" but he is waiting on Aiken’s availability, which has been pushed back possibly to mid-January. He said leaf collection is complete for the season and that the stream restoration at the Public Works/Police building is finished.

Schultheis reported a reclamation tank at the water plant "is sealed up" but he still needs to dig the sewer line to install vents and that the sewer line at the Spring Avenue building needs replacement. A telemetry problem at the reservoir was addressed by cleaning the hardware, and he said it now "seems to be working"; replacement parts have been ordered. Council President Mike Fleming suggested using existing hardware as a backup option.

Additional operations items: electrical outlets under Pittsburgh Street trees were rewired amid lingering receptacle issues in town; all fire hydrants were painted by an Eagle Scout; Schultheis said he contacted KLH regarding State preferences for locating a new water line on Crowe Avenue (under grass, then sidewalk, then street). He reported about half of the borough’s water lines are entered into the mapping program and he continues that work.
