The Heard County Board of Commissioners on June 16 unanimously appointed Mrs. Leigh Cogner to the DFACS Board for a five-year term beginning July 16, 2026, and running through July 16, 2031. The Board noted Cogner holds a master's degree in education, guidance and counseling and has experience in social services and substance abuse counseling; the motion was made by Commissioner Iris Harris and seconded by Commissioner Larry Hammond.
