Troup County board approves Ty Singer Vance, PC as county attorney

Troup County's Board of Commissioners voted on Aug. 18 to approve Ty Singer Vance, PC, as the county's new legal counsel following a months‑long selection process.

Chair introduced the recommendation and invited a motion; a commissioner moved and a second was recorded. "Okay, all those in favor? Alright, thank you, motion is carried," the chair said after the vote. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the work session minutes provided.

The chair told commissioners the firm is based in Carrollton, Georgia, and told the board the firm has more than 100 years in business and approximately 16 attorneys available to support county needs. Avery Jackson, one of the firm representatives in the room, told the board, "We appreciate the opportunity to assist the board of commissioners and the county, moving forward." Nicole Smith, another firm attorney present, said she looks forward to building relationships with staff: "I always tell everyone that our local government clients are my favorite clients."

The vote followed brief remarks honoring the outgoing firm and a description from staff of the search process. The chair invited department heads present to speak to the new attorneys after the meeting.
