Planning Commission says Sequoia Tree Service expansion must follow land-development rules

Sequoia Tree Service owner Fran Stoveken asked the Planning Commission for a waiver of the Township's land-development requirement for an addition to an existing garage at 425 Route 6 & 209 (parcel 097.04-01-11). Solicitor Christian Weed told the commission that "this project would need to go through land development approval," citing the Township's SALDO and recommending that the commission not grant a waiver.

Commission members said they do not recall granting similar waivers in recent years. Lou Cozza of Kiley Associates noted his office had not recommended waivers while acting as the Township engineer in the past seven to eight years. Chairwoman Deborah P. Fischer recused herself from the matter because she previously sold property to Sequoia Tree Service; the minutes state that the sold property is not the parcel under review. The record shows no waiver was granted and no vote was taken; commissioners noted potential PennDOT concerns because the parcel currently has four driveways and that a portion of the plan consisting of a timber-framed structure could be moved to a location that would only require a building permit.
