KDE Associate Commissioner Jennifer Stafford and Laura Pinsonneault from the Center for Assessment outlined proposed updates to Kentucky’s accountability system intended to comply with House Bill 257 (2026) and federal ESSA requirements. Proposed changes discussed include removing the school safety measure and the writing assessment, adding absenteeism as a measure and introducing an individual student growth indicator beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
