Council keeps police step pay scale separate, preserves 2.5% step increases
The council unanimously approved keeping the Jasper Police Department on a separate step pay scale established Oct. 3, 2022, that provides a 2.5% annual increase; Chief Garrett Foster endorsed retaining the 2.5% step instead of a 3% increase.

Council Member DeMarcus Holmes moved to retain the Jasper Police Department’s step pay scale, which was adopted Oct. 3, 2022, for a 10-year period, separately from pay for other departments; Bob Mayhar seconded.
