Council told town attorney will stop municipal work; possible replacements named

Council member Watts told the Town of Gay council on July 14, 2025 that the town’s current attorney (referred to in the minutes as Mr. Morton) has been appointed county manager for Pike County and will no longer handle municipal clients. She said Mr. Heath English is expected to take over those contract clients and that the council should consider other candidates, including Scott Mayfield of the Smith, Welch, Webb & White firm in Barnsville.
