The Stanton City Council returned from an executive session and voted on Jan. 20, 2026, to rescind severance pay that had been granted at a previous meeting to Joe Morales. The council closed the regular meeting at 7:05 a.m. for an executive session under Texas Government Code §551.071—attorney-client privilege—then reconvened at 7:44 a.m. and approved the rescission by recorded vote.
