Technology director reports zero compromised accounts since March after phishing simulator and MFA rollout

Andrew Conyers delivered the district's annual data‑security update required by statute, describing steps the district has taken to harden systems after the state stopped funding McAfee. The district adopted Microsoft Defender for endpoint protection, upgraded switches and access points and automated purges of unnecessary Social Security numbers from Infinite Campus. Conyers said rapid identity provisioning and multifactor authentication have reduced stale accounts and improved login security.

Conyers highlighted a phishing‑simulation program for staff and said it helped catch malicious messages before damage occurred. "Since we implemented this, we've had 0 compromised accounts since, like, March, so it's been pretty good," he told the board. He recommended continued vigilance and noted the district will keep technical responses out of public forums for security reasons.
