County places moratorium on new sports-complex permit requests while it crafts an allocation policy

The committee reviewed an athletic field usage memo that places a moratorium on new facility-permit applications from noncurrent users effective June 23, 2026; staff said the moratorium will remain until an evaluation concluding July 1, 2027. Andrew said the pause is intended to protect field quality — current annual hours put fields at the high end of acceptable conditions and continued growth risks significant turf thinning and safety issues.
