Town MS4 report and superintendent note generator shortfall after storm response

After the Eastn Park hearing, the board received an MS4 program update and a brief superintendent report on operations and equipment needs.

Mark said staff has been keeping a closer eye on construction sites during rain events and noted he recently became a board member of the Indiana MS4 partnership, a development he said will help the town keep pace with industry standards. The superintendent reported July operating revenue of $33,470 and expenses of roughly $55,18, producing a July deficit and a small year-to-date surplus of $2,239. Capital improvement and trust balances were reported in the tens and hundreds of thousands.

Board members discussed lift-station and emergency generator availability during recent storm response. Staff said the town currently relies on one portable generator that the utility has been rotating among nearby facilities; members asked staff to explore acquiring an additional portable generator for redundancy and to discuss potential quantity discounts or shared procurement options.

The board gave direction to staff to evaluate a second generator purchase, coordinate with the utility and to consider maintenance and operating capabilities for municipal use during future storm events.
