Superintendent and principals highlighted district extracurricular successes in the information portion of the agenda. The high school reported multiple qualifiers for district and state competition in swimming, wrestling and other sports; several student-athletes were named as advancing to state-level events.
Separately, the wellness committee reported that district staff are exploring whether Big Spring can participate in a federal summer feeding program (to provide breakfasts and lunches during summer months). Staff said federal funding would cover most meals and the district is examining logistics (area eligibility, pickup vs congregate service) and potential coordination with Chartwells as the food-service vendor.
