Board questions $1.7M summer‑projects assignment after updated cost estimates leave about $500K unneeded

At the March meeting board members revisited a $1.7 million assignment set aside for summer capital projects and said recent estimates indicate the list may total closer to $1.2 million — leaving about $500,000 of assigned funds that could be repurposed. One board member summarized the discrepancy: “that total of that list and the sides on the if there was any variance is less than 1.2 million... So there's a difference there than what we set aside in the general fund that's assigned. We set aside 1.7 million and we really are only going to need likely 1.2 million. So that brings up $500,000 that we have assigned in the general fund that we know we're not going to need.”
Administrators said they are finalizing vendor quotes (boiler replacements and other items), reviewing grant allocations that might offset costs, and will return with an updated capital projects list and recommendations for any transfers. They also noted some capital items may be grant‑funded and that those grants may not be decided until the fall.
