District finalizes one-pagers, takes three projects to CSDA legislative days

Staff presented final one-pagers and reference materials for the upcoming California Special Districts Association legislative days, saying the documents have already been submitted to lawmakers' offices and identify three district priorities for grant funding.

"The three projects that you'll see in front of us are the ones that we are really advocating to try to get some type of grant funding for," the staff member said. The packet is intended to give board members materials to carry into meetings with assembly and congressional staff during the CSDA event.

Among the projects, staff described an electrical-panel replacement intended to harden the district's system against outages. "That project actually was just submitted this week to Shiff's office, Padilla's office, and Opra's office for consideration of appropriations," the staff member said. The materials also include talking points on hazard mitigation, wildfire response and how district infrastructure supports regional emergency response.

Board members discussed logistics for the two-day CSDA schedule and agreed to pair official CSDA sessions with separate district meetings so directors can meet both as part of the association and in one-on-one visits with legislators or staff. Staff said follow-ups would be arranged after the April meetings.
