Municipal Authority seeks Army Corps collaboration; hydrant testing and garbage pickup changes announced

At the March 11 meeting, Municipal Authority representative Dave Clark asked Council to sign a letter allowing the Authority to work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on an upcoming project. Clark also discussed hydrant flow-rate testing and changes to municipal garbage service.

Clark told Council that flow-rate testing on fire hydrants is not required but that about 10 of the borough's roughly 100–110 hydrants have been tested; random testing will continue and data will be shared with local fire departments. He also said the Municipal Authority will provide garbage cans to residents who have not opted out of borough-provided service and that the Authority will take over pickup duties after March 26.
