Bristol plans water‑main relocation as INDOT work approaches
Town Manager said INDOT’s Division Street replacement will cross an asbestos concrete water main that crews expect will fail; the town plans to abandon that main and shift the system to Illinois Street with new laterals, and estimated an under‑river crossing at $450,000.

Town Manager Mike Yod warned that INDOT’s planned work on Division Street will intersect the town’s old asbestos concrete water main and that the pipe is at high risk of failure during construction. "They're going to be constructing right across our water main ... that's an asbestous concrete pipe and um my guys say there's a 100% guarantee that that will leak or break some at some point," he said.
