Recorder reports quarterly collections and flags potential fee increase under House File 1031

The County Recorder presented the quarterly financial report, noting roughly $68,918 collected in the period and describing how the county and state shares were allocated; the recorder flagged that several large farm sales contributed to higher receipts.

The recorder also told the board that House File 1031, a state bill described as a recording-fee modernization measure, remains active and could double per-page recording fees from $5 to $10, which would materially increase local recording revenue if enacted. "If you look on page three, that $12,000 figure would be doubled if we can get an increase the recording fees from $5 a page to $10 a page," the recorder said. Board members noted the bill's progress in the legislature and that its enactment and signature by the governor would determine the outcome.

Members accepted the quarterly report by motion and asked staff follow-up questions about revenue cycles and reserves. The recorder noted she will retire at year-end and requested an appointment process for her deputy; that request is covered in a separate article.
