Wildfire, vegetation management and tribal partnerships top Rivieras concerns

Fire‑safety and resilience were central themes in the Rivieras lay‑pack discussion. One participant said wildfire “is on the mind of the community” and staff reported survey responses consistently prioritized enforcing codes and helping elderly and low‑income owners manage hazardous vegetation; members also praised existing work with tribal representatives and urged continued expansion of that outreach.

Staff and advocates discussed how those priorities would translate into the local area plan as goals and implementation programs and noted that stronger community‑based capacity building—training, youth education and partnerships with the fire safe council—could help sustain vegetation management and preparedness over time.
