Commission elects Commissioner Harrison to Budget Committee after close votes

The Sumner County Board of County Commissioners filled a vacancy on the Budget Committee during the March 17 meeting after multiple nominations and a procedural amendment. Commissioner Teachenor nominated Commissioner Brown; an amendment to send the nomination back to the Committee on Committees was moved by Commissioner Shoaf and failed on an electronic vote 12–11. Commissioner Lamberth subsequently nominated Commissioner Harrison. In the deciding electronic vote, Chairman Hyde explained a "yes/green" vote meant selecting Commissioner Brown and a "no/red" vote meant selecting Commissioner Harrison; the recorded vote was YES - 8, NO - 14, and Chairman Hyde declared Commissioner Harrison elected to the Budget Committee.

Ada Nielson was separately appointed to the Solid Waste Board for a six-year term; the record shows Commissioner Mansfield voted against that appointment. The Budget Committee appointment vote was recorded electronically with individual votes entered in the meeting minutes.
