MU Extension outlines 2025 programs, asks Cole County commissioners for feedback

An MU Extension presenter, identified in the meeting as Elizabeth, presented the office’s annual report and plan of work, highlighting youth and community programs that served Cole County in 2025.

Elizabeth said specialists documented county activity across four program areas and flagged several highlights, including regional 4‑H participation at the state capital and a Missouri S&T grant that supported local space‑camp programming with laptops, STEM kits and programmable robots. She also described a partnership with the National Guard’s child and youth program to assemble and ship “healthy living boxes” to families connected to Guard members.

The presenter walked commissioners through staff roles — naming an agronomist and horticulturalists, a livestock specialist (Chrissy Brandle), and nutrition staff — and emphasized the reciprocal relationship between extension services and county support. "We really really appreciate your support of us," she said, asking for feedback to help shape next year’s priorities.

Commissioners thanked the presenter and noted extension’s broad reach across the county. No formal action was required; the presentation was entered into the record.
