Thor bridge project hits unforeseen sewer elevation; county plans change order covered by STBG funds

Jun 23, 2025

Work on the Thor bridge replacement uncovered a sewer flow line higher than the creek flowline; county staff and the city's engineer plan an extra work order (~$15,000) to sleeve the sewer through the new box culvert, using remaining STBG funding so the city and county should not incur additional costs.

The full story

County staff told the board that during the Thor bridge replacement (STBG-funded) they discovered the gravity sewer flow line was about 1.5 feet higher than the creek’s flowline and that a prior contractor had not reached the proper depth during earlier ditch cleaning. "The flow line of the gravity fed sewer is 11191. So it's a foot and a half higher than the flow line of the creek," staff said, explaining why an extra work order would be required.
